  Artistic biography:

Bernd Obergassel, born in Dortmund/ Germany 1962, started his career as a hobby artist in 1993. From the beginning he has been working in his spare time self-educated with oils to create colorful, abstract and surrealistic figures. These figures are a bit technical influenced but very emotional, so they depict a lyrical interplay of biomorphic forms. He named the figures "The ZON's". Throughout the years, he has been engaging in a variety of artistic activities like drawing, painting (also other series), making lots of objects (with electronic parts), sculptures and small installations of conceptual art.

Education:

Apprenticeship as constructor for electrical machinery,
degree in Electrical Engineering (Dipl.-Ing.),
Business Administration Engineer (Dipl.-Wirt.Ing. (FH)).
Both at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts, Dortmund/ Germany.

Bernd Obergassel says:
„I know, this is not the normal way to become an artist ;-) - but, engineers are in a similar way creative like artists.” And, of course, like any artist - whether professional/academic trained or not - I am happy when I can show my works to others and they like them.

And another clever sentence:
Works of art don't need to be big in size - they only have to be great.
(Bernd Obergassel, 2006)
